Walker Memorial Baptist Church has a long standing history of over 120 years. It is not clear as to when this church established a missionary ministry. In 1994, under the leadership of Dr. Bush as Senior Pastor and spiritual leader of the Walker Memorial Baptist Church, the Missionary Ministry Department, which was once made up of several individual groups, was re-organized. These groups consisted of the Emma Taylor Missionary, the Senior Missionary, the Dorcus Club, the Pulpit Circle and the Sincere Workers. As a newly organized group with an important and meaningful job to be done in and around the Church community, the name was needed. It was suggested that a living member's name be chosen. At the recommendation of Dr. Bush and the ministry members, the name chosen was Ruth Berridge Missionary Ministry. Named after one of our Church Mothers, Ruth Berridge, whose name remained with the group for these many years.
